How do you manage your own rentals and have a life?
Hey friends,
I’ve talked to many would be investors over the years that state they’d love to invest in rentals… but, I hear this…”I don’t want get tenant calls at 3:00am”, “I want to have a life”, and “I couldn’t deal with self managing”
As I type this I’m on a plane on my way home from Singapore, where we spent a couple of days after enjoying Malaysia and Thailand.
In total, I’ve been gone for just over two weeks. We self manage… so it got me thinking about how over the years, we’ve developed simple systems to keep the wheels on when we are out of area.
Whether you have a local rental (or several), or are considering buying out of state, my hope is this episode will spark a few ideas on how to manage those rentals while maintaining a life and even enjoying the process.
Is it always going to be perfect? Oh heck, no! But are there measures you can take to make self managing as smooth as possible? Absolutely!
Let me know what other questions you might have about managing rentals, and I’ll answer on an upcoming show. Last week I touched on our trip to Thailand. The remainder of our Thailand trip was wet but gorgeous, and the people? So kind and generous. I also walked away so grateful - the topic of a different discussion.
After Thailand, we scooted down to beautiful Malaysia. Side note, we happened to there the same time as President Trump. Very random and unexpected! We stayed in the beautiful resort town of Langkawi.
We didn’t meet anyone else there from North (or South) America in the three days we were there, which was fascinating. There is so much we could have done there from a sightseeing standpoint, but in reality really enjoyed looking out to the tranquil sea and dreaming for a couple of days.
Lastly, we flew to Singapore, which was just like I imagined from the movies. So clean and modern, but with the juxtaposition of rich traditions and culture. And the flowers and plants, oh my! Re-watch Crazy Rich Asians to catch some beautiful highlights of the city.
Enjoy the episode and I look forward to being back with you in the studio next week!
Investing in you,
Jonna
