3 Things You’ll Never Hear From Me (or at Idaho REICon)

September 09, 20252 min read

Hey friends, it’s Jonna. I’m so glad you’re here. Today I want to share something that’s been on my heart. As real estate investors, we’re bombarded with messages—social media ads, YouTube gurus, texts about “no money down” deals, or “get rich quick” systems. It can be overwhelming, especially for new investors trying to figure out what’s real and what’s just noise.

So let me make it simple.

Here are three things you will never hear from me, from this podcast, or at Idaho REICon.

1. “How to Get Rich Overnight”

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Wealth built through real estate doesn’t happen overnight. Sure, there are bursts of momentum—a focused 90 days of action can set you on a powerful path—but true financial freedom takes time, discipline, and consistency.

I’ve lived this. Some of our investments took years to bear fruit, and in the short-term, our net worth even went down. But by holding on and staying in the game, we built lasting wealth.

2. “Max Out Your Credit Cards to Buy a Course”

Education matters. But I will never tell you to go into debt or trash your credit score to pay for a high-ticket training or program.

There are smart ways to fund your growth—partnering, earning through smaller deals, reallocating assets—but opening a new credit card just to buy a course is not one of them. Real estate is about investing in properties and assets, not sinking money into promises that leave you broke when it’s time to actually make a deal.

3. “Millions of Dollars with No Money or Time”

No money down, no time, no effort? Not reality. Successful investing requires one of two things: time or money. Ideally, a little of both.

  • If you have money but little time, passive investments may be right for you.

  • If you have time but little money, there are active real estate strategies to build up capital.

But to think you can create millions without skin in the game—whether cash, time, or both—is unrealistic. Even lenders expect you to have something at stake. And trust me, you want that ownership and upside.
